LONG VERSION
Mela Moves is a body-led wellbeing platform supporting people to reconnect with their bodies through somatic movement, therapeutic yoga, nervous system–informed coaching, and the supportive use of sound and music. The platform is especially attuned to midlife and the transition into menopause — offering guidance that helps people navigate not only physical changes, but also the emotional shifts and evolving sense of self that can arise during this time. Founded by Melanie, Mela Moves is grounded in over three decades of experience across fitness, movement, music, and embodied practice. Her career began in the early ’90s during the era of lycra and high-impact aerobics — a time that strongly influenced mainstream ideas about fitness and body image. From there, her path expanded beyond conventional exercise into more expressive and therapeutic approaches to movement, including yoga and somatic practices. This evolution reflects a lifelong exploration of how movement, music, rhythm, sensation, and nervous system awareness can support all our wellbeing and lived experiences Alongside professional training, Melanie’s own lived experiences of body image challenges, injury, recovery, and identity have shaped an approach that is holistic, identity-affirming, and deeply human. Mela Moves recognises how stress, life transitions, and evolving identity influence people’s relationship with their bodies over time. Particular care is given to those in marginalised bodies and to individuals who have not often seen themselves represented in wellbeing spaces. Sessions are designed to welcome different life experiences, energy levels, and identities, creating environments that are inclusive, non-performative, and free from pressure. Sessions support emotional resilience and a more compassionate relationship with the body. Participants are guided to understand their nervous system, work with hormonal and emotional changes, and explore movement practices that feel regulating, steadying, and sustainable. Sound and music are often woven into sessions as tools for grounding, expression, and connection, reflecting the important role rhythm and vibration play in embodied experience. Alongside depth and care, Mela Moves also honours the role of play, enjoyment, and curiosity in movement. Spaces are held with warmth and humanity, recognising that laughter, creativity, and moments of lightness are as important as rest and reflection. Through workshops, 1:1 coaching, retreats, and community-based sessions, Mela Moves creates inclusive environments where people of all ages and backgrounds can feel supported to move, rest, and be fully themselves.
